On January 29, 1988, the newly renovated High School Gymnasium will be dedicated in memory of Thomas J. Figlia, who served the Ardsley Schools as teacher, coach, assistant principal and principal from 1955 to 1985. Mr. Figlia died on December 1, 1987. The dedication ceremony will take place at approximately 8:30 p.m. between games played by the Varsity Girls Basketball Team and the Varsity Boys Basketball Team. The public is invited to attend.

As another living memorial to Mr. Figlia, a scholarship fund has been established by four past presidents of the Ardsley Board of Education. Two graduating seniors will be selected annually by the High School faculty to represent the ideals of scholarship, athletics and compassion which he exemplified. The first of the new scholarships will be awarded for June, 1988 graduation.

Contributions may be sent to the Thomas J. Figlia Memorial Scholarship Fund c/o Ardsley Board of Education, 500 Farm Road, Ardsley, NY 10502.
